PATRICIA CARTIN
knows of which she cooks. A native Costa Rican, she immigrated to the United States in 2007, experiencing the flavors of the South, Southwest, and New England before settling in New York, where she attended the International Culinary Center. She now shares these cooking and baking techniques with her own students and teaches workshops including 'Tapas from Spain', 'Costa Rican Food at Home', 'Just Finger Food', 'Latin American Food' and 'Amazing Cakes'. Patricia has cooked for the President of Costa Rica at University receptions, and caters for the Permanent Mission of Costa Rica to the United Nations. She travels extensively, visiting and tasting with family members living throughout Latin America. These experiences allowed Patricia to hone her knowledge of the unique ingredients and flavors found in each Latin American nation. Patricia currently resides in King's Point, New York, with her husband and favorite food taster, Juan Jose Leon.
Patricia was born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica. She graduated with a degree in international business from the University of Costa Rica and The International University of the Americas in Costa Rica. For more than fifteen years, she served as an executive for different companies in Costa Rica, as well as becoming Executive director of the Junior Achievement Program. She worked as a development manager for new projects involving debit cards for an international bank, and was also manager of project implementation in payroll outsourcing and temporary hires for various Multinational Companies. When she moved to the United States after her husband’s corporate transfer, she decided to follow her dreams and explore her passion for baking and cooking. From the age of six, Patricia was captivated by the aromas and flavors that emerged from the family kitchen, and she had always counted the culinary arts as a favorite hobby. But it was her move to America that sparked her desire to study cooking professionally and radically change her career. She graduated from the prestigious International Culinary School in Manhattan(ICC), with a concentration in Cake Techniques and Design.
Patricia supports Surgeons of Hope Foundation every year by donating Costa Rican food workshops.
