Torta Chilena

This delectable dessert is very famous in Costa Rica. Everybody loves it!!!!
What a rich dessert for Mother’s Day!!!
Ingredients
For the pastry
3 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup butter
1 Tbs. sugar
1 tsp.salt
3 eggs yolk
3/4 cup milk
For the filling
3 cans condensed milk (cooked on Bain Marie for 3 hours)
Merengue
3 egg whites
4 Tbs. sugar
Beat egg whites until form picks add sugar one Tbs at a time
Preparation
Preheat oven at 350F
In a big bowl combine flour, salt, sugar, cut in butter, stirring with a fork.
Add remain ingredients and work with your hands. Turn dough out onto a flour surface and knead for one or two minutes.
Make a ball.
Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and make small balls.
Roll each ball very thin about 8” on a round shape.
Bake each layer for about 5 minutes or until golden brown.
Stack each layer with dulce de le he and finish with a layer. Cover with meringue.
